I’m not giving details, but I actually did the equivalent of this at a meeting of humans once. 

“This is a complete waste of time. Nothing good ever came from brainstorming.”
“If you can’t be constructive, just leave, Barry.”

So I did. I went home and wrote the plan they ended up actually using. For genuinely creative people, meetings are not just a waste of time, but counter-productive.
I don’t know what effect they have on everyone else. Maybe it gives them a sense of accomplishment without having to actually do something. Like watching a documentary about starving children. Or applauding mindlessly when the captain tells you there’s a marine on your flight. Or praying.
