"Can you just pick it up again without saying shit?"
A charming blooper reel from Cook’s Country, a cooking show with a difference from American Public Television. It grew out of America’s Test Kitchen, and is essentially the same show with less formality and an invited audience.
Christopher Kimball and his friends find traditional American recipes and work on the best way to cook them. They also test various items of cookware and recipe ingredients. Refreshingly, they actually explain everything as they go along, and sometimes even cook a batch without taking one seemingly stupid step just to demonstrate why it’s important.
They also do a nice job of explaining the historical context for all the recipes they show. That sounds boring, but it’s not. It’s a lot of fun. For instance, there was one episode where he was sitting on the back porch reading a copy of To Kill a Mockingbird and he found a reference to Lane Cake. So he tracked that shit down and put it on his show.
Where I live, it’s carried by the create channel, but it’s worth a look if you can find it on your cable service.
